Although it was discovered that the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, the Neshoba County Sheriff's Office and the Philadelphia, Mississippi Police Department were involved, only 7 men were convicted and served less than six years. Their bodies were found two months later. Working with "Freedom Summer", they were registering African-Americans to vote in the Southern states. In 1964, Nicholas was 21 years old when in June, three young civil rights workers - Andrew Goodman and Mickey Schwerner from New York City, and James Chaney from Meridian, Mississippi - were kidnapped and murdered in Mississippi. Baby Desi graced the cover of the first TV Guide magazine with a headline that read ""Lucy's $50,000,000 baby" - because the commercial revenue from his birth was expected to be that amount. On the same day on "I Love Lucy", the fictional Little Ricky was born as well. In 1953, at the age of just 10 years old, Nicholas was alive when actress and comedian Lucille Ball gave birth to Desi Arnaz, Jr on January 19th. The same summer, there were riots in Beaumont, Texas and Harlem, New York. 34 people were killed, (25 of them black) - mostly by white police or National Guardsmen, 433 were wounded (75 percent of them black) and an estimated $2 million of property was destroyed.
